Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review

Stateline exists because of a line on a map. Nevada legalized gambling in 1931 and California did not, so the casinos clustered on the Nevada side of Highway 50 to catch the California traffic, and they still do. Harvey Gross opened a one-room casino here in 1944 that grew into today's corridor. The current lineup, worth getting right because most listings do not, is Harrah's, Caesars Republic (the former Harveys, rebranded in 2025), Golden Nugget (the former Hard Rock, 2023), and Bally's. This is barely a residential neighborhood: hundreds of acres but only about a hundred actual homes against thousands of hotel and timeshare units. What softens the casino edge is genuinely good: the lakefront Edgewood Tahoe golf course and lodge, built on the old Park family ranch and home to the summer American Century celebrity tournament, and the Tahoe Blue Event Center arena that opened in 2023. Heavenly's gondola base sits just across the line on the California side. Buy here with eyes open. It is a tourist core, not a quiet street, with casino noise and lights, Highway 50 traffic, and parking pressure on event nights. The few high-end units trade on the Nevada tax advantage and the walk-to-everything convenience, and nothing else.
