Vallejo Heights occupies the older, western part of the city, on the higher ground back from the waterfront. It is one of Vallejo's established grid neighborhoods, with the early-20th-century housing stock that comes with that history and the slopes that give parts of it some elevation and bay-direction views. Federal Terrace and the Mare Island Health and Fitness Academy serve parts of the area, with Vallejo High as the assigned high school. The character is older, central-west Vallejo, close to downtown and the waterfront without being in them. That position is the upside, with the marina, ferry, and Georgia Street all a short hop away. The honest part is that this is older housing in a part of the city with uneven upkeep, so the blocks vary, and the polished version of Vallejo this is not. It is for buyers who want to be near the historic core and the water and value position over a turnkey street.
