Westside is the working side of Turlock, a stretch of West Main Street and Walnut Road where breakfast diners and movie theaters share the map with markets, food processors and industrial parks. It sits west of downtown in the Stanislaus County city of Turlock and feels more like a district than a single subdivision. West Main was once the retail hub, with department stores and a long-running music shop, and a mix of old and new businesses still keeps the corridor busy. Roughly 1,800 homes share the district with that commercial and industrial land, so residential blocks sit between the larger uses. Breakfast and lunch are the strength. Huckleberry's Breakfast & Lunch on North Walnut Road serves Southern-style plates with a Cajun eggs Benedict on the menu, and Hot Rod Diner on South Walnut Road leans into a 1950s look with classic diner food. Both close by mid-afternoon. Carnicería La Rancherita on West Main combines a meat counter, groceries and a taquería. For coffee, most people head a few minutes toward downtown to Grace and Gather Coffee, also on West Main. Columbia Park is the main green space, with a splash pad and a basketball court. Nearby, Montana Park on Montana Avenue added five acres with a playground and shaded picnic arbors, plus basketball and pickleball courts, and it is the first new park on this side of town in more than thirty years. Errands are mostly a short drive, with Highway 99 close and Turlock Transit running along the main streets. The industrial presence is the catch. Processing plants and warehouses send trucks onto the bigger roads, and older commercial buildings sit beside newer ones along the corridor. Between the movie theaters at one end and the diners at the other, Westside covers a lot of ordinary mornings and evenings without anyone leaving the district.
