Northeast Turlock is where much of the city's newer housing sits beside its oldest big park. It covers the eastern and northeastern edge of town, from Crane Park out through the cul-de-sac subdivisions near the city limit. Much of the housing in Northeast Turlock dates from the 2000s onward, with open floor plans, granite kitchens and corner lots. Subdivisions tend to be small, with a dozen or so houses at the end of each cul-de-sac, and the east side has custom-built pockets such as Peacock Ranch Estates, Sierra Meadows and Pleasant Valley Estates. Infill is changing the edges, with Fairbanks Ranch, Les Chateaux and a Fitzpatrick Homes project adding houses at a denser pattern than the older streets. Crane Park on East Canal Drive is among the oldest parks in Turlock, with big shade trees, tennis courts and ten horseshoe pits. Bristol Park on Castleview Drive is a walk from Pleasant Valley Estates, while Christoffersen Park, Markley Park on Berkeley Avenue and Dale Pinkney Park on Cherry Blossom Lane fill in the rest of the map. R.A.M. Farms nearby runs seasonal attractions such as a corn maze. Villa Napoli on Geer Road serves Italian dinners in a warm, casual dining room. Lulu's Ice Cream Parlor & Treatery on East Canal Drive runs a diner-style dessert counter. For coffee, Rise N Brew on Colorado Avenue is where people settle in to study over bagel sandwiches and espresso drinks in a range of flavors, and Sunrise Bakery Cafe on Geer Road pairs pastries with espresso. Village Fresh Market and Wayside Market cover groceries, and a Walmart Neighborhood Market adds a larger option. The Turlock branch library is here as well. Everything beyond that is a drive, since the area is built around cars and has only a few bus lines. Several streets end at a greenbelt or a neighborhood park rather than a through road, which gives parts of Northeast Turlock a quieter, looped feel.
