White Rock is squeezed into one of the tighter slots in the central core, hemmed by the light rail tracks on one side and Highway 50 on the other. That geometry defines it: this is a commuter's address, wired directly into both the Gold Line and the freeway, with the tradeoffs that come from living between them. The homes are older and modest, the practical stock that fills the corridor between Folsom Boulevard and the highway. Zinfandel Drive and its employment and retail are close, and the light rail can carry you downtown without a car. The obvious downside is the edges. Rail noise and freeway proximity are real on the closest blocks, and there is little in the way of green interior space. What White Rock offers is transit and freeway access at a price the rest of the metro cannot easily match.
