Belmont Heights is one of Long Beach's most desirable older neighborhoods, a leafy, walkable district just inland from the ocean bluffs in the southeast corner of the city. It grew from a town that incorporated on its own in 1908 before joining Long Beach, and the housing still shows it: streets of Craftsman bungalows, Spanish and Mediterranean revivals, and period homes from the 1900s through the 1930s, many carefully kept. The three-block stretch of Broadway east of Redondo is the neighborhood's social spine, a low-key strip of restaurants, cafes, and small shops you can walk to. The beach, Bluff Park, and Recreation Park are all minutes away. The tradeoff is the cost of all that character: lots are not large, and the prettiest blocks command a premium. For buyers who want vintage architecture, walkable dining, and the coast close by, Belmont Heights is a benchmark.
