California Grove is one of the larger of Brentwood's California-series neighborhoods, a well-established residential area in the central-to-eastern part of the city with several thousand residents. The homes are standard single-family Brentwood stock from the main build-out years, on regular lots, and the feel is steady and settled. Day to day it runs like the rest of this band: the downtown core, the farmers market and the Sand Creek and Streets of Brentwood shopping are short drives, and the neighborhood itself stays residential. Its size means it has a bit more internal variety than the small tracts, with parks and through-streets woven into the layout. The honest note is the central-Brentwood one: schools and safety land mid-pack rather than top-tier, and the housing is practical rather than new. For buyers who want an established, reasonably priced Brentwood neighborhood with some scale to it, the Grove fits.
