Deer Ridge Country Club is one of Brentwood's premier addresses and consistently the top-ranked neighborhood in the city, a golf-course community of larger, often custom homes built mostly between 2002 and 2007 along Balfour Road on the western edge. The streets are wide, the lots are generous, the homes run from comfortable to genuinely large, and the safety read is about as strong as Brentwood gets. Here is the asterisk every honest local will give you: the Deer Ridge golf course itself closed in 2019, undone by thin demand and high upkeep, and its roughly 190 acres have sat in redevelopment limbo through a string of proposals. So the manicured fairways that named the place are now an open-space question mark rather than a working course. The homes and the prestige remain; the golf does not. Day to day this is quiet, car-dependent and a committed drive from shopping and the freeway. What you are buying is space, polish and one of the best addresses in town, with an unresolved chapter playing out across the street.
