Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Cambodia Town, Anaheim Corridor, Cultural Hub

Cambodia Town runs along East Anaheim Street between Atlantic and Junipero, the cultural and commercial center of the largest Cambodian community anywhere outside Southeast Asia. Officially designated by the city in 2007, the corridor is lined with Cambodian restaurants, markets, jewelry and clothing shops, donut counters, and temples, and it anchors a dense, central neighborhood of older bungalows, apartments, and small courts on the surrounding blocks. It is one of the most affordable and most genuinely diverse parts of Long Beach, and the food alone is a reason people cross the city to visit. The honest picture includes the challenges of a busy working-class corridor: Anaheim Street carries heavy traffic, the housing is older with uneven upkeep, and there is little open green space inside the lines. What the neighborhood offers is culture, walkable everyday commerce, and a central location with quick freeway and transit access.
