Country Run is one of the better-placed neighborhoods in Hercules, and the reason is Refugio Valley Park. The city's main park, with its duck pond, walking loop, big shade trees, and the community swim center nearby, sits right at this neighborhood, which gives Country Run a green, open feel that most of the inland tracts cannot match. Beyond the park, this is comfortable, settled Hercules. The streets are quiet and residential, the schools and the civic center are a short trip away, and you are close enough to San Pablo Avenue and the I-80 ramps to handle errands and the commute without much fuss. It manages to feel tucked away while still being central. The usual Hercules caveat applies: there is no walkable retail node here, so dinner and groceries mean a drive. But with the city's best park essentially in the backyard, Country Run earns its spot as one of the neighborhoods people specifically ask for.
