Fuller Park is Napa's history on display, a residential neighborhood settled in the mid-1800s and stocked with enough period architecture that it's part of the National Register of Historic Places, with individual homes on the registry. The streets around its namesake park have the kind of Victorians and early-century houses that downtown Napa was built on, kept up and lived in rather than roped off. The park itself is a genuine city park and the neighborhood's green heart, and the location puts you within an easy walk of downtown while keeping a quieter, leafier feel than the commercial blocks just north. There's a civic presence too, with several Napa County offices, including Health and Human Services, sitting within the boundary. The tradeoff comes with old houses: charm on the outside often means updates, maintenance, and the occasional historic-district consideration on the inside. The county offices and Highway 29 along the west edge add some daytime traffic that the purely residential streets don't have. For buyers who want character and walkability over square footage and new systems, Fuller Park is one of the best addresses in the city.
