Tucked into the wooded hills just west of El Camino Real, Hillsborough Knolls is a secluded and serene residential enclave. Its winding roads and larger lots give the area a distinctly private feel, with homes often hidden behind gates or nestled in dense foliage. Architecturally, the neighborhood is classic Hillsborough—think sprawling ranch homes, Mediterranean estates, and a handful of modern builds—many with sweeping views of the Bay or surrounding hills. Despite its tucked-away location, the area still offers reasonable access to downtown San Mateo, top-rated public and private schools, and major commuter routes. There’s very little commercial activity or through-traffic, which enhances the quiet atmosphere but also means most errands require a short drive.
