Lakewood Village is a leafy suburban neighborhood in the northeast corner of Long Beach, laid out south of Del Amo Boulevard between Lakewood Boulevard and Bellflower. It is one of the area's more established tracts, with mid-century homes on generous, planted lots and the kind of wide, well-shaded streets made for evening walks. The neighborhood has a settled, low-key character and a reputation for relative quiet and good schools, with the Lakewood Center mall, neighborhood shopping plazas, parks, and golf courses all close by and the 405 a quick connection. As with most of the eastside, errands and dining mean a short drive rather than a walk, and the bordering arterials carry the traffic. What residents get is space, mature greenery, and a stable, residential feel that has kept Lakewood Village quietly in demand for decades.
