Lincoln Village is a pocket of houses on the eastern edge of Carson, near where Carson Street meets Alameda Street and the city shares the 90810 ZIP code with west Long Beach. It's small, it's surrounded by working industrial land, and its main corner is a short run of taquerias and a panaderia on East Carson Street. Homes in Lincoln Village are mostly modest single-family houses on flat streets, many of them single-story stucco from the postwar decades, with driveways and block walls. Because the residential streets are hemmed in by commercial and industrial property, the neighborhood feels tucked away from the rest of the city. The food here is Mexican and Salvadoran and mostly casual. is a few doors west, El Tenampa serves Salvadoran food on Alameda, and Alea Cafe and Dominguez Pizza round out the same stretch of Carson Street. For outdoor time, Dominguez Park is a short drive north on Santa Fe Avenue in Dominguez Village. Its aquatic center has a five-lane pool and three waterslides, and the park adds tennis courts, a jogging path and Frisbee golf. There's no park inside the neighborhood itself. Daily errands take a car. Corner stores on Carson Street cover basics, and for a full grocery run most people head west to the markets along Avalon or east into Long Beach. The 405 and 710 are both nearby, which helps commutes to the ports and toward downtown Los Angeles. The tradeoff is the setting. Freight businesses, RV lots and industrial yards ring the blocks, so trucks are a regular part of the traffic and the backdrop is more warehouse than greenery. What the neighborhood offers in return is a quiet interior and a panaderia and taqueria close enough to walk to for breakfast.
