Saturday mornings in Montebello Vista, on the east side of Suisun City, tend to be organized around the ball fields. Lambrecht Sports Complex covers 80 acres east of Walters Road, with four Little League diamonds, four lighted adult softball fields and a concession stand, and it has been open since 1994. The fields are rental-only, so play runs through leagues and permits rather than drop-in pickup games. The homes came a bit earlier than that. Most were built across the 1980s and into the early nineties, a mix of single-family houses and attached townhomes on modest lots. The look is plain and consistent, and the streets feel settled rather than new. Samuel Goepp Park has a basketball court, a playground, a walking trail and a picnic area on five acres, and Quail Glen Park is the other neighborhood green space. For a change of scenery, Lawler Falls Park in Lawler Ranch is about a third of a mile away, with a pond and small waterfalls. Eating out means getting in the car. There is a Starbucks inside the neighborhood and a Bonfare Market for quick stops, while the Sunset Avenue restaurants, including Black Bear Diner, sit under a mile away in Heritage Park. Raley's is in that same stretch, and a Walmart supercenter touches the neighborhood's edge for bigger shopping trips. The bigger outing for open land is Rush Ranch, a 2,070-acre preserve run by Solano Land Trust a few miles south, with self-guided trails across marsh and grassland from 8 a.m. To sunset. Highway 12 connects to Interstate 80 and Fairfield, and the Amtrak depot downtown is a few miles off for Capitol Corridor trains. What Montebello Vista lacks on foot is the everyday mix. The streets are quiet and the parks are close, but restaurants, a full grocery and the waterfront all sit beyond comfortable walking range. In exchange, the loudest thing most evenings is a game at Lambrecht.
