North Shore Business Park is exactly what the name says, a commercial and light-industrial district on the north side of Hercules rather than a residential neighborhood. It is where offices, warehouses, and workplaces sit, set between the bay edge and the I-80 corridor. Its role in the city is functional. This is a WestCAT transbay LYNX stop, one of the park-and-ride points where Hercules commuters catch the nonstop express into San Francisco, and the Bay Trail and shoreline run along the northern edge. For getting to work or out of town, the location does its job well. As a place to be outside, though, it is utilitarian. There is little in the way of public realm here: parking lots, business frontages, and through-roads rather than parks or storefronts to linger at. It is a useful, orderly part of how Hercules works, not a neighborhood you walk for pleasure.
