Northgate sits at the northeastern edge of Vallejo, up where the city's newer hillside housing meets open space and the I-80 corridor. It is one of the calmer, better-kept parts of town, with curving streets, more recently built homes, and the kind of quiet that comes from being at the edge rather than the middle. Joseph Wardlaw Elementary serves the area and Jesse M. Bethel High is the assigned high school. Like the other eastern hill pockets, the appeal is a newer house on a quiet street with a strong safety feel, and prices that run well over the Vallejo median to match. The catch is the same one those neighborhoods all share: there is very little within walking distance, so groceries, coffee, and services are a drive down toward the corridors. Northgate is for buyers who want the newer, quieter, edge-of-city version of Vallejo and are fine trading walkability for it.
