Otay Ranch Village 2 covers the southwest side of the Otay Ranch master plan in Chula Vista, anchored along Olympic Parkway by Otay Ranch High School, which opened in 2003. Heritage borders it on the north and Escaya on the south, and the land rises toward the hilltop Montecito area on its southern side. Most homes went up from the mid-2000s on, after the Village 2 plan went through environmental review, and the mix runs from two-story single-family houses to townhome and condo courts. The Montecito section came later. Building there was only starting in 2018, with single-family homes and lower-density attached homes on the high ground, so you can still find streets in Otay Ranch Village 2 that look brand new. Montecito Park on Santa Diana Road is the largest green in the village, with Summerland Park and Jacaranda Park scattered through the neighborhoods. Like the rest of Otay Ranch, the village was designed around pedestrian paseos and private swim clubs, so a lot of daily outdoor time happens on those paths and at the pool rather than at a big regional park. There is almost nothing to eat inside the village itself. Yaqui Coffee House, a few minutes south at the Shops at Escaya, is where people go for coffee, with Sonora-inspired drinks, lattes made from rotating local roasters and a breakfast menu. Cafe 86 in Heritage, on East Palomar Street, is known for ube drinks and desserts. Errands run by car. Groceries and big-box stores sit east in the Otay Ranch Town Center area or north along East Palomar, and Olympic Parkway is the main road in and out. Otay Ranch High School, with more than 2,500 students, adds school-hour traffic to that parkway. The lack of a village center is the main gap here. You will drive for most meals and nearly every errand. Up the hill, though, the streets keep winding toward Montecito, and new homes are still being added at the top.
