Panhandle Annex is one of Richmond's smallest neighborhoods, a narrow pocket of just a few hundred residents tucked into the south-central part of the city. It is a quiet, mostly residential strip of single-family homes and a few apartment buildings, the kind of place where the entire neighborhood is a handful of blocks. The main amenity at hand is the Richmond Greenway, the trail-and-park corridor on the old rail line nearby, which adds bike paths and green space within easy reach. Bus lines and freeway connections handle commuting, and downtown Richmond is close. Given its size, there is essentially nothing in the way of shops or restaurants inside Panhandle Annex itself, so daily errands mean heading to neighboring corridors. It is a small, low-key, affordable corner of central Richmond rather than a destination, and that modest quietness is most of what it offers.
