Harborlight Yacht Club keeps boats at Queensway Drive. For anyone living nearby in Downtown, Wrigley or the Westside, the Port of Long Beach matters mostly as an employer and as a source of truck traffic along the 710 and Pier approaches. Rail crossings and night shifts are part of the backdrop. As a place to spend time, the harbor is best on a clear evening from Harry Bridges park, when the cranes light up across the water and container ships slide out toward the breakwater. It is one of the few spots in the city where you can watch global trade move in real time.
