Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Elevated views, Quiet streets, Close to nature

Richmond Heights, still called Mira Vista by plenty of longtime residents, climbs the eastern hills above the rest of the city, and the name earns itself: from the right street you get sweeping looks across the bay. It is a quiet, established neighborhood of mid-century and ranch homes on hillside lots, bordered by El Cerrito to the south and running up toward the ridgeline and the Arlington. The setting is the draw. Wildcat Canyon Regional Park spreads across the hills just east, with miles of trails and some of the best ridge hiking in the East Bay, and the Mira Vista golf course adds open green to the neighborhood's upper edge. Streets stay calm and residential, and the elevation keeps things a few degrees cooler and a notch quieter than the flats. The tradeoffs are the usual hillside ones. The winding roads mean you are driving down for groceries and most errands, and the commute starts with a descent to I-80. For buyers who want views, trees, and quick trail access and do not mind the drive, Richmond Heights is one of the city's steadier hill options.
