Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Rose Park, Craftsman Bungalows, Historic District

Rose Park is a beloved historic district in south-central Long Beach, known for one of the densest, most intact collections of Craftsman bungalows in the city, most built during the building boom between 1910 and 1922. The streets are walkable and shaded, lined with broad-porched bungalows alongside Spanish Revival and Neo-Traditional homes, and the small namesake park gives the neighborhood a green center. It sits a few blocks up from the beach near the Broadway corridor, close enough to walk to Alamitos Beach and the Fourth Street shops, which gives it the rare combination of vintage architecture and coastal proximity. Lots are modest and the homes are a century old, so the character comes with the maintenance of historic houses. For buyers who want walkable, architecturally rich living near the water at a more attainable price than the bluff-top districts, Rose Park is one of the city's best-loved neighborhoods.
