Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Eastside Tract, Airport Adjacent, Postwar Homes

South of Conant is a residential neighborhood on the east side of Long Beach, taking its name from its position just below Conant Street near the edge of the Long Beach Airport and the Lakewood border. It is a settled mid-century tract of postwar single-family homes on flat, gridded streets, a quiet and practical part of the eastside. The location offers easy access to the airport, the shopping along Bellflower and the Long Beach Towne Center, and the 405 freeway, which makes it convenient for commuting and travel. The flip side of being near the airport and the freeway is the aircraft and traffic noise that comes with it, a real consideration on some blocks. There is no walkable retail core inside the boundary, so daily life is car-oriented. For buyers who want an affordable, well-located eastside home and do not mind some flight-path noise, this is a steady, no-surprises neighborhood.
