The Farm at Alamo Creek sits on the northeast side of the Leisure Town Road and Elmira Road crossing in Vacaville, on land that used to be farmland. The name nods to that history, and the first thing you notice is that a big park, not a shopping center, anchors the area. Play 4 All Park is inside the neighborhood, part of a larger community park the city describes at roughly 19 acres, with open space and trails planned around it. Patwin Park is across the way, Stonegate Park lies beyond, and Arbor Oaks Park, with its dog area, is close enough to reach on foot. The open space planned around the park should add more walking routes as the area fills in. The city's plan calls for about 560 detached houses plus around 180 duplex units, a mix that sets the area apart from the single-style subdivisions nearby. Construction is recent, so expect young trees and, in places, bare front yards. The layout is still easy to read, with the park as the obvious reference point for finding your way around. Shops and food are mostly elsewhere for now. A section of roughly seven acres is reserved for neighborhood commercial, which is where a coffee shop or small restaurant might one day open. Until then, Tamales Chepo's, about a mile away, is the nearest named place, and Starbucks is a similar distance. Walmart Neighborhood Market, across the corridor, covers groceries. Everything runs on wheels. Leisure Town Road, which the city intends to grow into part of the Jepson Parkway, carries trips north and south. What is missing is the cluster of cafes and stores that makes a place feel finished. Expect errands to sit a mile or so from your door. The Farm at Alamo Creek is a park first and a shopping district later, which suits plenty of households.
