Parkside takes its name from the parks around it. Within Vacaville, it sits close to Meadowlands Park and Nelson Park, and those two are the reference points for describing where it is. The neighborhood is residential, made up mostly of detached single-family homes with sidewalks, garages and fenced yards. Few businesses sit inside the boundary, so the streets stay residential from one end to the other. Meadowlands Park is only a block or two past the edge, and Nelson Park is roughly a quarter mile away. Beelard Park lies beyond those two. All three are neighborhood parks, the kind where a loop with a dog fits easily into an evening. The nearest real shopping is on Alamo Drive. Raley's is the main grocery store, about a third of a mile off, and the same strip has Peace Love & Boba for drinks and Jersey Mike's for sandwiches. Dutch Bros Coffee is the nearest coffee stop. A Walmart Neighborhood Market is slightly farther away if you want another grocery option. For a sit-down meal, downtown Vacaville is a drive. Errands are by car, though the loop is tight enough to finish in a single trip. A longer drive to work or to the Bay Area means planning around the freeway. Parkside has almost no restaurants, shops or cafes of its own. Anyone who wants to walk to a coffee or a corner store will be disappointed, while anyone who wants quiet residential blocks between a couple of parks will find them. The park paths are where the neighborhood shows itself, and a loop around them is the routine that most days include. Vacaville is a freeway town, with Sacramento one way and the Bay Area the other, and Parkside is one of the quieter residential pockets inside that larger map. For a bigger outing, Lagoon Valley Park has a lake path and a Saturday-morning farmers market is held downtown at Andrews Park.
