Amber Ridge is one of Livermore's early-1990s move-up tracts, the kind of place people land when the starter home downtown stops fitting. Pulte built it between 1991 and 1994, and it shows in the bones: two-story homes with vaulted ceilings and the occasional wet bar, sitting on lots that run unusually large for this part of town, some pushing a third of an acre. The streets are wide, quiet, and built for cul-de-sac life rather than foot traffic. You drive for almost everything, which is the standing tradeoff across central Livermore, but freeway access and the Vasco Road retail run are quick, and the home sizes buy you elbow room that older Livermore tracts simply don't have. Curb appeal holds up well here. The houses were big and well finished to begin with, and most owners have kept the landscaping current. If you want square footage and a roomy yard without paying South Livermore wine-country prices, Amber Ridge is one of the more sensible swaps in the city.
