Angora Ridge takes its name from the ridge above it, where the basin's most beloved lemonade stand outlived a forest. Angora Lakes Resort has operated up the ridge road since 1917, Effie Hildinger having arrived by muleback in 1924 to run it, and generations of south shore kids know the place for cliff jumps and fresh-squeezed lemonade. The neighborhood below carries the other half of the story: the 2007 Angora Fire burned through this corridor, and the streets rebuilt with some of the newest housing in the basin. The draw has always been altitude and access. Angora Ridge Road climbs toward the lakes, and Fallen Leaf's trail country is next door. The landscape wears its history, with young trees and open sightlines where old canopy stood. It reads as renewal or as reminder depending on who is looking. Either way, the views got bigger, and the lemonade survived.
