Neighborhood Review

Key Words:

Loops of low traffic, Two parks within a stroll, Quick access to Vasco Rd and I-580

Coventry is a tucked-away wedge in southeast Livermore hemmed by Felicia Avenue and Tex Spruiell Park on the north-west, busy South Vasco Road on the east, and East Avenue on the south. Inside, looping streets such as Jessica Drive, Arlene Way and Rebecca Drive branch into short cul-de-sacs, so car traffic stays local and slow. Homes date from the late 1970s to mid-1980s, mostly one- and two-story ranches with stucco fronts, brick trim and attached garages. Mature magnolia and ash trees line the curbs, giving most blocks a pleasant, shaded look, though original shake roofs and aging driveways appear here and there. Residents have two neighborhood parks on their doorstep. Tex Spruiell Park offers a playground, open lawn and a gentle rise for picnics, while Big Trees Park hosts a tot lot and shaded benches just across the west boundary. Less than five minutes south, Arroyo Seco Bike Trail connects to Max Baer Park and downtown routes. Daily errands are a quick hop north along Vasco to big-box retail or west on East Avenue to local grocers. Commuters reach I-580 in about seven minutes via Vasco, and Lawrence Livermore National Lab sits directly south, making Coventry popular with lab staff. Life here is comfortable and family-oriented, with evening dog walkers and kids cycling the circular streets. The trade-offs: Vasco Road sends a steady hum of traffic and occasional truck noise to homes along the eastern edge, and some interiors show their age, needing exterior paint or landscape refreshes. Sidewalks are narrow and disconnected in spots, so parents keep a close eye on younger kids outside.
