Lakeshore Boulevard is why tax planners nicknamed this town Income Village. Nevada takes no income tax, California sits minutes away, and the flat, pine-shaded lane between the highway and the water has quietly become one of the wealthiest streets in America. David Duffield and Michael Milken have long been reported among Lakeshore's owners, with Larry Ellison and Sergey Brin tied to the village's newer wave. In March 2026, an off-market lakefront compound with more than 200 feet of frontage sold for $125 million to a buyer linked to SpaceX investor Steve Jurvetson, obliterating the previous Tahoe record of $62 million, which this town also held. The land has a longer story. This was George Whittell's shore until 1959, when attorney Robert McDonald famously waded through snowdrifts with a briefcase of cash to close the purchase option the reclusive millionaire was trying to back out of, clearing the way for Incline Village. Burnt Cedar Beach, named by town planner Ray Smith for a big burnt cedar that stood there for years, anchors the boulevard under the 1968 residents-only deed. The odd part of living here is how public the front yard is. Lakeshore is the village's favorite walking and cycling route, so a parade of joggers and cruiser bikes rolls past the gates all summer.
