Pacific Palisades is where Los Angeles runs out of city and into the Santa Monica Mountains and the ocean, and since the January 2025 Palisades Fire it has been a place in the middle of rebuilding. Around it grew Huntington Palisades with its larger lots near the bluffs, Castellammare stacked on the slope above Pacific Coast Highway, and the Riviera, Marquez Knolls and the Palisades Highlands climbing the canyons. Houses ran from modest postwar ranches and cottages to big newer builds, and today that mix sits beside a wave of rebuilds. Outdoor life is a big part of why people choose Pacific Palisades. Temescal Gateway Park reopened in July 2026, with trails climbing from Sunset toward Topanga State Park, and Will Rogers State Beach stretches along the highway below. The Rivas Trail and its overlooks are open again as well. Up in the Highlands, Spruzzo on Palisades Drive reopened within months of the fire for pizza and pasta, and Palisades Garden Cafe on La Cruz reopened after smoke cleanup. Errands in Pacific Palisades still take some planning. Vons on Sunset near the coast and Anawalt's hardware are open, but Gelson's has not returned yet, so plenty of shopping happens in Brentwood or Santa Monica. Sunset Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway are the main ways in and out, and both carry construction traffic. The tradeoff is time. Rebuilding here will run for years, with noise, dust and closed lots on many streets, and the neighborhood you buy into will keep changing around you. The Wednesday market is smaller than it was, running on one street instead of two, and for now it is where the Village feels most like itself again.
