Summerset I is the original phase of Brentwood's first big active-adult community, an age-qualified, golf-oriented neighborhood that predates the city's other 55-plus developments by about a decade. The homes are modestly sized single-story designs, and the community is built around an 18-hole course, recreation facilities and walking paths. The draw is a settled, tight-knit active-adult lifestyle at one of the more accessible price points in town, with the lowest entry costs among Brentwood's premier-ranked neighborhoods. The amenities are largely private to the community; everyday shopping is a short drive out to the central corridors. The honest tradeoffs are the age-restricted-community ones: HOA dues that support the golf and rec facilities, and an older housing stock than the newer 55-plus options like Trilogy. For buyers who want established, affordable active-adult living with golf at the center, Summerset I is the original and still one of the most approachable.
