Food comes first in East Woodland, the stretch of Woodland where bakeries, taquerias and a seafood house line the roads and a dog park sits close to the edge of town. It is a working, lived-in part of the city, and its restaurants lean toward Mexican cooking. Residential blocks sit behind the commercial roads, and the area has the practical, built-for-driving feel of the eastern side of town. The older downtown grid is close enough to reach in a few minutes by bike. Panaderia Mana is the bakery to know, and Birrieria Mooooy and Tacos La Piedad cover birria and tacos. Las Islitas Ostioneria is the seafood stop, Kenny's is the bar and grill, and New York Pizza Pie does slices and whole pies. The Habit Burger Grill is the main chain on the strip. Boss Cafe is the neighborhood coffee shop, with a Dutch Bros as the drive-up alternative. Gelatin World, a specialty shop, is a quirkier stop on the same roads. Campbell Park is East Woodland's own park, and the Woodland Off Leash Dog Park, at 2001 East Street, stays open around the clock. Tredway Park, in Gibson Square, is close by for more grass, and Everman Park is a bike ride away over in the Historic Core. Groceries are easy. Sprouts, a Walmart Neighborhood Market, Cracchiolo's Market Deli and Catering and Carniceria El Torito are all inside the boundary, so a week of shopping can be done without leaving. Yolobus stops in Woodland too, and Sacramento is a freeway drive. The roads that give the district its convenience also give it its noise. East Street and the neighboring arterials carry steady traffic, and most trips need a car. Everything here sits within a few minutes of the next stop, which makes the area quick to learn.
